Jim has been a licensed REALTOR for nearly 35 years. He founded REALICO, Inc., a condominium association management and commercial real estate company in 1984. He founded Dykstra Heglund Realty, Inc., a residential real estate sales company in 1993. Jim is Owner and President of REALICO, Inc. and Co-Owner and President of Heglund-Sova Realty, Inc. (formerly Dykstra Heglund Realty). He is also Co-Owner and President of Wonderland Properties, Inc., a real estate brokerage firm specializing in recreational properties, since 1993.
Jim is a member of the Grand Rapids, Michigan, and National Association of REALTORS, and the Commercial Alliance of REALTORS. He is the former Vice President of the Mason-Oceana-Manistee Board of REALTORS, the former Vice President of the Forest Hills Youth Football League, the former Treasurer and Vice President of the Forest Hills Central Athletic Boosters. Jim currently serves as Chairman of the Board for The American Red Cross of Greater Grand Rapids.

Jim is a graduate of Michigan State University and the REALTORS Institute of the University of Michigan. He is also a member of the Professional Standards Committee of the Commercial Alliance of REALTORS and a member of the Government Affairs Committee of the Grand Rapids Association of REALTORS.
